Franschhoek Valley:
Breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, and fine wines: These are the hallmarks of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley in the heart of the Cape Winelands. When the Huguenots first settled in this spectacular valley over 300 years ago, they brought with them their traditions and knowledge in winemaking and viticulture from their native France and transformed the wilderness around them into one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. This proud heritage can be seen and felt today in the Village and on the surrounding farms.

The fertile Franschhoek Valley is home to some of South Africa’s noble cultivars and classic styles. These range from superb whites such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Chenin Blanc, to the full-bodied reds of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.

The tour is strictly a wine-tasting experience and does not host celebration events such as birthdays or bachelor/bachelorette parties as the estates visited are primarily wine-tasting venues and not party venues. In order to properly exercise their duties, the Franschhoek Wine Tram staff members place a legitimate expectation on all guests not to behave in an unacceptably loud, disruptive, offensive, or intoxicated manner. Should any such behaviour be exhibited the Franschhoek Wine Tram reserves its right to suspend or withdraw its services. All vehicles are fitted with CCTV and monitored throughout the service.

Customer Reviews

This was a really nice day out. The tram was a charming way to travel between wineries, and our host provided expert guidance and insight throughout. Lovely lunch at the Rickety Bridge. - Steve Orbell

We both thoroughly enjoyed our day which was curated by SK. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The three vineyards visited were all different but very enjoyable and we got to taste some fantastic wines. The meal at Rickety Bridge was good and we also enjoyed meeting the other 5 people on the tour. Our favourite vineyard was Grande Provence and we would have liked more time there and so we will be back ! - Robert Corbett

We had an amazing time on the Wine Tram - we went for the curated package which also included lunch which is definitely recommended! Very well organised and lots of delicious food and wine. Our guide, Roger, was really great and the views were amazing! We weren't rushed at each stop at all and had time to enjoy each stop too. Thanks to the whole team for such a smooth and enjoyable day! - Rhea Mano

I really enjoyed this experience, very informative and enjoyable, a good variety of tasting options, and the food and tasting was delish. You also get to meet a good variety of people which made the experience even better. I would recommend not to go on a very hot day (thank me later). Our host was also very hospitable and accommodating to different taste preferences. Would definitely recommend! - Danielle Diesel

It was good and worth the money - Natsai Mutyavaviri
