Please note the Groot Drakenstein Tram is currently out of service (Navy and Orange Line). Guests may still book and enjoy the experience; transport between wine estates will be by bus until the tram resumes.
With the Exceptional Wine & Cuisine Experience, guests are treated to a day of exceptional luxury, travelling via tram and tram-bus to 3 different pairing experiences.
Guests depart from the Franschhoek Terminal at 10:15 am and enjoy a complimentary coffee and Beignet while awaiting their departure. Guests travel via tram and tram bus to three pre-selected wine estates.
Throughout the course of the day, guests are treated to a number of pairing experiences, including a breakfast pairing, a MCC & truffle pairing, an indulgent food & wine pairing lunch, and a dessert & wine pairing. After a full day of food, wine and festivities, guests return to the Franschhoek Terminal at approximately 5 pm.
The tour is strictly a wine-tasting experience and does not host celebration events such as birthdays or bachelor/bachelorette parties as the estates visited are primarily wine-tasting venues and not party venues. In order to properly exercise their duties, the Franschhoek Wine Tram staff members place a legitimate expectation on all guests not to behave in an unacceptably loud, disruptive, offensive, or intoxicated manner. Should any such behaviour be exhibited the Franschhoek Wine Tram reserves its right to suspend or withdraw its services. All vehicles are fitted with CCTV and monitored throughout the service.

24 hours + = 100% REFUND
Less than 24 hours before scheduled TIME SLOT = No Refund

Tickets are to be collected on the day of your tour. Please be at the Ticket Office +/-20 minutes prior to your departure time.

Please note all our tours are not wheelchair friendly as the vehicles are all safari-type vehicles. All clients travelling with us need to be mobile due to stairs in all vehicles as well as accessibility at the wine estates. Extensive roadworks in Franschhoek, Drakenstein, Simondium, and Klapmuts may cause delays. Please factor this into your travel plans to the Franschhoek Wine Tram. Service may be affected on your booking day.
We had an absolutely brilliant day on the Wine Tram! If you only have one day in the valley, this is 100% the best way to do it. The best part is the total peace of mind: no planning, no stress about timing, and you are always guaranteed a table at the estates because everything is pre-arranged for you. Our host on the tram was incredibly friendly and shared so much local knowledge. We visited three beautiful estates: Pasarene: A fantastic start! We had a wonderful host who gave us an excellent, in-depth explanation of the winery and the wine pairing. You can really feel the passion and expertise here. Grande Provence: A stunning location where we were even allowed to see the cellar where the wines are stored. It was very impressive, although it would have been the ultimate 'cherry on top' if we could have tasted something directly from the barrel in that space! Mont Rochelle: The location is lovely, but this stop felt a bit rushed. We were served the wines and desserts immediately with a very brief explanation, which felt like a 'hurry up and move on' experience. It was a bit of a shame for the final stop. Despite the rushed ending, the overall experience was top-notch. It's a seamless way to enjoy the scenery and world-class wines. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting the area! - Monica

Absolutely incredible experience. One of our favourite activities across our whole 2 week trip to South Africa. The food was of a really high quality and so much of it - don't have breakfast before you come! We were a small group of 8 and we were really lucky with our group - all lovely people. This was our first time on the wine tram and it was the highlight of our holiday in South Africa The whole day from start to finish was fantastic Our guide for the day was a lady named Anga and she was very knowledgeable and helpful through the whole day . The 3 wineries we went to supplied us with wine that complemented the food and on each course it was explained to us the origins and ingredients of the wine and the food . So professional. A must for anyone who wants to enjoy the experience of wine and food and in such a fabulous setting in the town of Franschhoek . - ANDREW
