SPECIAL NOTE
As Boschendal estate is large, allow 2 hours at this venue. A farm vehicle will take you through a working estate to the wine-tasting area, which is +/- 20 min from the tram platform.
Estate Closures:
31 August 2026: Boschendal – Guest can visit Cellar Door at 09:30 and 10:30. Boschedal Estate closing at 12:00pm. Guests can visit The Werf on a first come first serve basis.
04 & 05 December 2026: Zorgvliet
Restaurant Closures:
03 & 06 December 2026: Zorgvliet
The tour is strictly a wine-tasting experience and does not host celebration events such as birthdays or bachelor/bachelorette parties as the estates visited are primarily wine-tasting venues and not party venues. In order to properly exercise their duties, the Franschhoek Wine Tram staff members place a legitimate expectation on all guests not to behave in an unacceptably loud, disruptive, offensive, or intoxicated manner. Should any such behaviour be exhibited the Franschhoek Wine Tram reserves its right to suspend or withdraw its services. All vehicles are fitted with CCTV and monitored throughout the service.
CANCELLATION POLICY (All services including chauffeur/transfer services):
24 hours + = 100% REFUND
Less than 24 hours before scheduled TIME SLOT = No Refund
Please send a cancellation email to info@winetram.co.za including your booking ID on the subject to request a refund.
Passengers may dine at one of several restaurants on the tour. To avoid disappointment, it is highly recommended that passengers make reservations for lunch/picnic at least 24-48 hours in advance. Food or open alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the tour though food and drinks are available for purchase at the wine estates. Wine tastings can be purchased at each wine estate directly. Kindly take into consideration that some wine estates are cashless and require card payments only.
Tickets are to be collected on the day of your tour. Please be at the Ticket Office +/-20 minutes prior to your departure time.
Please take note that pets are not permitted on the tour.
Transportation from the ticket office to each of the wine estates on your route.
You will also receive a daily offerings card which will include any specials/discounts for the day.
Wine tasting, lunch, and other activities at each stop.
Chauffeur/Transfer – Please note transfers are added at an additional cost to your booking.
Please note all our tours are not wheelchair friendly as the vehicles are all safari-type vehicles. All clients traveling with us need to be mobile due to stairs in all vehicles as well as accessibility at the wine estates. Extensive roadworks in Franschhoek, Drakenstein, Simondium, and Klapmuts may cause delays. Please factor this into your travel plans to the Franschhoek Wine Tram. Service may be affected on your booking day.
What an unforgettable day with the Franschhoek Wine Tram! We chose the Green Line (Bus First), and it was the perfect way to experience some of the incredible wine estates in the valley. Everything was exceptionally well organised, from check-in to transportation between the estates. The buses and tram were clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, professional, and always happy to help. We never felt rushed and had plenty of time to enjoy each stop at our own pace. One of the best parts of the experience was discovering wine farms we had never considered visiting before. Even though we live nearby, the Wine Tram introduced us to hidden gems we would have otherwise driven straight past. The breathtaking scenery, relaxed atmosphere, and seamless planning made for a truly memorable day. Whether you're visiting Franschhoek for the first time or you're a local looking for a unique day out, I can't recommend the Franschhoek Wine Tram enough. The diamond of Franschhoek, The Wine Tram. Probably the best day out in Cape Town/Western Cape, great fun. We did the chauffeur drive option from Sea Point, a little pricey but worth it. Navy line was a winner with plenty of top estates and a few smaller ones to choose from. AWESOME - ALEX
