Franschhoek Valley:
Breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, and fine wines: These are the hallmarks of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley in the heart of the Cape Winelands. When the Huguenots first settled in this spectacular valley over 300 years ago, they brought with them their traditions and knowledge in winemaking and viticulture from their native France and transformed the wilderness around them into one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. This proud heritage can be seen and felt today in the Village and on the surrounding farms.

The fertile Franschhoek Valley is home to some of South Africa’s noble cultivars and classic styles. These range from superb whites such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Chenin Blanc, to the full-bodied reds of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, and Merlot.

The tour is strictly a wine-tasting experience and does not host celebration events such as birthdays or bachelor/bachelorette parties as the estates visited are primarily wine-tasting venues and not party venues. In order to properly exercise their duties, the Franschhoek Wine Tram staff members place a legitimate expectation on all guests not to behave in an unacceptably loud, disruptive, offensive, or intoxicated manner. Should any such behaviour be exhibited the Franschhoek Wine Tram reserves its right to suspend or withdraw its services. All vehicles are fitted with CCTV and monitored throughout the service.

Customer Reviews

Despite it being one of the hottest days at 39C, the experience was incredible. We were seamlessly moved between three wineries by various means of transport that just appeared at exactly the right time. At each venue the service and explanations were clear, informative and professional. The power cut at start of three course lunch didn't phase the restaurant and we were moved to a covered veranda where we were served the mostly delightful lunch with accompanying wines. This was a very polished performance by your staff, and although they must be doing it daily, they kept it fresh and enjoyable. Thank you - we'd recommend this to friends - Peter

FANTASTIC experience! The guide, named Simon made the day exceptionally special, his knowledge, enthusiasm and passion shone throughout the day, ensuring that we were well taken care of. He really needs to be acknowledged for what he brings to the company. The wine farms were lovely and I experienced two that I had not heard of before which was a treat. Can't wait to come back! - Nicky

Highly recommended this experience. Very knowledgeable staff, friendly and with great sense of humour. Wine and food, top class. - Sylvia

It was super! We had a perfect day. - Evelyn

We had a wonderful wine experience with our delightful host Roger. He made sure we were all informed about what we were going to do that day, he kept an eye on us and answered all our questions and requests. It is definitely worth coming back and doing this again. Thank you so much for making this an experience we will never forget. Take care and best regards, Madeleine, Glenn, Paul and Jayne - Madeleine
